Electrical & Controls Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, program, and support the electrical and electronic systems of our industrial dust collector products. This role combines HVAC knowledge, embedded software programming, and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design to develop advanced control solutions that improve performance, safety, and energy efficiency of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dust Collector & HVAC Electrical Systems
  • Design and implement electrical control systems for dust collectors, including motors, blowers, VFDs, sensors, and actuators.
  • Integrate safety systems (pressure sensors, alarms, interlocks, emergency stops).
  • Prepare wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical layouts.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards (UL, CE, CSA, NFPA).

Embedded Software & Controls

  • Develop and program control logic for dust collector operation (pulse cleaning, fan speed control, airflow regulation).
  • Program microcontrollers for monitoring and automation.
  • Implement algorithms for efficiency, fault detection, and system diagnostics.
  • Test, debug, and document embedded software.

PCBA Design & Electronics

  • Design schematics and PCB layouts for custom control boards
  • Select components suitable for industrial HVAC/dust collection environments.
  • Oversee prototype assembly, testing, and validation of PCBs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electronic design issues.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to support new product development and production.
  • Provide technical input for certification and compliance (UL, CE marking, EMC testing).
  • Support field service teams with troubleshooting and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (manuals, BOMs, test reports).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical design for industrial equipment such as HVAC, or dust collection systems.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems programming (C).
  • Experience with PCB design software.
  • Understanding of motor control, VFDs, and industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and compliance standards (CSA, UL, CE, IEC, NFPA).
  • Good ability in communication, teamwork and adaptability.
  • Bilingual English and French (spoken and written) are required due to our Global company communication needs.
  • Experience or Interest in new product development projects, ideally through academic or internship work.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Motivated, adaptable, and eager to contribute in a fast-paced, evolving, multi-entity manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with industrial dust collector controls (pulse jet cleaning, differential pressure monitoring).
  • Knowledge of airflow, filtration, and HVAC principles.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects.
